The green indicator light turns red on the Polycom and the other mic, indicating that the Polycom is muted. When she moved the paper off of the mic, the sound was great again.
Make sure you verify you have the Expandable Polycom before you order these. If you have an EXPANDABLE Polycom, such as the Polycom SoundStation2 Expandable Conference Phone (2200-16200-001), then these are the extra 2 mics that go to the far ends of a long table.
That made the sound go all funny to the person on the other end, who said so. Make sure you have a Polycom before you order these, for that matter -- these are not generic microphones for tape recorders or such. They work great.
I can walk around our long conference room table and the person on the other end can't tell I'm moving.During one call, someone set a paper on top of one of these mics. So don't put things on top of these mics. The mute button on these mics mutes ALL the mics.
Anyone can mute and unmute pushing the mute on either mic or the center triangle unit.
Our conference room is approximately 12x12. When we got the base unit and tried it out, people on the other end of the line commented that they could not hear people 5 feet away from the base unit. Hence, we went ahead and bought the extensions to put at the ends of the table. No more comments.Recommendation is to use the guidelines but order it if after you determine you need it through actual use.
Everything came properly packed. The Conference Phone works great. My boss was impressed with the sound quality and I liked the display. Delivery was quick. I highly recommend it.
If it were phono or RCA connectors it would have been fine I believe. Polycom 2200-16155-001 SOUNDSTATION2 Extension Mics with Cables.I had to return this product. The specifications were not detailed enough when I read the information online. I needed microphones for an audio tape deck (stereo) for documentation. The connectors on this product were telephone jack connectors. While all the other print information for this Polycom product looked fine, unfortunately it was the wrong choice.Again, nothing in the online text for the product explained that the connections were telephone connectors.
Tried the less expensive d-link conference room phone and it just didn't cut - the polycom is MUCH better.
